January 2013 was a great way to start out the new year by exhibiting at the Craft and Hobby Association’s Winter show in Anaheim, California! The difference this year was that a lot of designers were able to showcase their artwork to manufacturers and retailers on the showroom floor and it was a huge success! I enjoyed learning from their great educational series about blogging, social media and building your business and had a great time connecting with new clients and familiar faces. Here to share with you are some of the highlights for me from the show:
Great showroom floor exposure
This year CHA had over 50 designers showcase their artwork on the main showroom floor and the traffic was terrific! Lots of talented designers were able to show the Craft and Hobby industry folks their expertise in design and craft.
Fun Craft Projects to Participate In
One of the things I love about CHA is that as a designer or crafter, you can create some great things on the showroom floor using the manufacturer’s products! I made for my niece a fun bulletin board using Elmers’ Foam Core Bulletin Board along with scrapbooking paper, ribbons and buttons which was very fun!
Another cool project was creating an owl tote bag using TOMBOW adhesive products
CHA Knows How to Celebrate and Throw a Party!
Besides meeting an greeting great companies, designers, manufacturers, retailers, bloggers and all around people in the craft and hobby industry, CHA knows how to celebrate our creative fields! I was lucky to have won the grand prize of $500 cash and CHA designer member Gail Green won $250 cash! Talk about an incentive to becoming a member!
I left the trade show feeling great and excited about this new year and getting my artwork out there to the world. The hardest part is now, doing the follow up and preparing for the next conference but this is a great opportunity to network with other creatives, show your work to companies and to meet great people. Just showing up is valuable because one never knows who one might meet! For information about CHA and to find out about their next trade show please visit:
